Meet Suze Morrison
How did your journey to photography start? Have you always been a food photographer?
Hey everyone, Suze here! I am from a Scottish family but live in Dorset in South West England, between the beach and the hills.
I only picked up my first camera during lockdown, I was too scared to turn it on for 3 weeks. I had no idea food photography was a thing, I just thought people had cool coloured kitchen surfaces. Soon enough I became frustrated as a development chef that my images for clients of my recipes looked so awful so I decided to learn photography. I have been shooting now for 3 and a half years.
Fun facts about me!
- I am a Bsc Hons Biological Scientist.
- I used to work for Disney in Florida.
- I am also a trained chef and mixologist who drinks a cocktail every day.

What equipment do you currently use to produce your content?
I use a tripod when I shoot indoors, but handheld outside. Natural light is my go-to to lighting but in the winter, I use a simple light set up as I shoot in my shed and it gets very dark.
I love to shoot tethered into Capture one so I can begin to edit as I go.
What are your three favourite props to use?
My three favourite props would have to be an old Turkish bread board that I bought in an old vintage bus, my ceramics from the Croatian artist Ana @tri_lukne, and my linen tablecloths.

What is your best advice to share with aspiring photographers?
My best advice is to stay authentic and not be too governed by rules when you shoot. Go with what feels natural to you, that is the key to a composition that flows.
Your videos are beautiful, any advice for creatives wanting to produce this type of content?
When creating videos, it is best to begin with a shot list. Try to approach your storytelling from a variety of angles and always keep your clips under 2 seconds each to maintain interest.
How do you keep learning and evolving your skills? Any recommendations for courses, people to follow, etc.?
I will never stop learning, even looking at nature inspires me to develop my skills. My biggest inspiration is admiring the work of artists and photographers and how they chase the light. Inspiration is all around you.
Which other creators do you admire and find inspiring?
I admire so many creators from different genres, it would be a disservice to mention only a few, but storytelling and a natural rustic vibe will have my heart.

What is next for you?
With the advance of technology, I have no idea what is around the corner, but I will continue to learn, seek inspiration, and develop as both a chef and an artist.
